The Venue Groups page is where venue categories are created and managed. Groups are organizational labels that make it easier to filter, search, assign, and report on venues. They're particularly useful when managing large venue portfolios where bulk operations and filtered analysis are needed.

Groups provide organizational structure that scales with growing venue portfolios. The more venues in the system, the more valuable grouping becomes for efficient management and meaningful analysis.

Groups might represent geographic regions ("North London," "Scotland"), venue types ("Public Toilets," "Restaurants," "Schools"), client organizations ("Wetherspoons Chain," "Council Properties"), priority levels ("High Priority," "Quarterly Review"), or any other categorization that suits operational needs. Venues can belong to multiple groups simultaneously.

Once created, groups can be assigned to venues and used throughout the system. This includes filtering venue lists when creating audit jobs, assigning all venues in a group to one auditor, generating reports comparing performance across groups, or searching for venues by category.

Managing Groups

Go to Dashboard > Manage Venues > Venue Groups.

Search groups

Type a group name into the search box to filter the list. Shows only groups matching the search term. Clear the search box to display all venue groups.

Add new group

Click + Add Group to create a new venue group. Enter the Group name and click Create. Group names are visible to anyone with system access, so choose clear, descriptive names that make sense to all users. Examples: "London Sites," "Monthly Inspections," "Premium Clients."

Edit group name

Click Edit next to a group in the list to modify its name. The change applies immediately across the system. Any venues already assigned to this group remain assigned - only the name changes. Historical data and reports reference the updated group name.

Delete group

Click Delete next to a group in the list, then confirm by clicking Delete Group.

What happens when deleting a group:

  • The group is removed from the system permanently
  • Venues that were assigned to this group lose that assignment
  • The venues themselves remain in the system unchanged. Only the group label is removed
  • Historical audit data is unaffected (reports showing the group in the past still display correctly)
  • Active audit job filters using this group may need updating

Only delete groups that are no longer needed. If a group might be useful in future, consider renaming it instead.

Assigning Groups to Venues

Groups are assigned at the individual venue level, not on this page. Read more information here.

To assign a group to a venue:

Go to Dashboard > Manage Venues, find the venue in the list, and click Edit. Tick the checkbox next to each group name that should apply to this venue. A venue can be assigned to multiple groups. Click Update Venue to save the assignments.

Using Groups Across the System

Once venues are assigned to groups, those groups become available as filters and selectors throughout the platform:

  • Audit Jobs > Details > Venues: Filter by group to see only venues in specific categories, then bulk-assign auditors or checklists to all venues in that group
  • Reports: Filter and compare audit results by group to analyze regional performance, venue type differences, or client-specific outcomes
  • Venue searches: Find all venues in a group quickly without manually searching individual names
  • Auditor assignment: Assign one auditor responsibility for all venues in a geographic or operational group
