Collect information in longer, multi-line text format.
Use long text fields for detailed descriptions, observations, or explanations that don't fit in a single line. Unlike basic text fields, long text fields provide space for comprehensive responses, for example incident reports, detailed condition assessments, or narrative accounts of what was observed.
Parameters
Display Prompt (required)
The question or label shown to auditors completing the checklist. Should clearly indicate what information is expected. Example: "Describe any damage observed" or "Number of soap dispensers." Cannot be left blank - the field won't save without a display prompt.
Placeholder (optional)
Example text displayed in the empty field before the auditor enters their answer. Shows the expected format or type of response. Example: "e.g. John Smith" or "Enter brief description here." If left blank, the field appears empty on the form.
Number of Rows (required)
Select the text area height, between 1 and 20 rows. More rows provide more visible space for typing - useful for prompts expecting lengthy responses. Fewer rows keep forms compact for shorter descriptions. This must be set as it determines how much text is visible before scrolling. Note: Auditors can enter text beyond the visible rows; the field scrolls to accommodate longer content.
Instructions (optional)
Additional guidance for auditors on how to answer this question. Use for specific requirements, where to find information, or clarification on what should be included. Example: "Check the duty roster on the staff room wall" or "Include both first and last name." If left blank, no instructions appear - only the display prompt shows.
Field Key (system generated)
A unique identifier generated automatically. Used internally for data processing and reporting. Do not edit this field.
