User search provides tools to find specific user accounts quickly within the system. As the number of auditor and audit managers grows, searching becomes essential for locating individual accounts to edit details, review assignments, or verify access levels.
The page offers two filtering methods: text search to find users by name or email, and role filtering to narrow results to specific user types.
Why Search Users
Common scenarios where user search is useful:
- Finding a specific auditor to assign to an audit job
- Locating a user account to update contact details or reset a password
- Verifying which email address is associated with a user account
- Checking whether a user already exists before creating a duplicate account
- Reviewing all auditors in the system to assess field capacity
- Identifying all auditors with administrative access for security audits
Searching for Users
Go to Dashboard > Manage Audit Users
Search box
Type a user's name or email address into the search box to find matching accounts. The search looks for partial matches. For example, typing "Smith" will find "John Smith," "Sarah Smithson," and "smith@example.com." Useful when you know part of a user's name or email but not the complete details.
Role dropdown
Filter the user list by role to see only specific user types:
- All Roles: Shows all users in the system regardless of role. Default view
- Audit Managers: Shows only users with the audit manager role (managers and administrators with full dashboard access)
- Audit Users: Shows only users with the auditor role (field users who complete inspections on mobile devices)
Use role filtering when searching for users to assign to audit jobs (filter to auditors only) or when reviewing administrative access (filter to audit managers only).
Search button
Click Search to apply the entered text and selected role filter. The user list updates to show only matching results. If no users match the search criteria, the list appears empty - adjust the search terms or role filter and search again.
Using Search Results
Search results display matching user accounts in a list. Each result typically shows the user's name, email address, and role. From the results list:
- Select Edit to modify user information
- Review which users have which roles
You cannot assign auditors to venues or jobs in the audit users view. You must use audit jobs. [Find out more about assigning audit jobs here] (/docs/audit-job-auditors).
Clear the search box and select All Roles to return to the complete user list.
